Staff Spotlight

The Longfellow Staff Spotlight is shining bright on Sherrie “Queen” Benson.  She teaches third grade and is in her 23rd year of teaching for the Alva School District.  Sherrie graduated high school from Sharon-Mutual and earned her degree in teaching from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.  The thing she enjoys most about her job is working with her students and watching them grow and learn.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening, quilting, riding bikes, camping and cheering on her beloved University of Oklahoma Sooners.  Sherrie is married to Bryce Benson.  They have two daughters Sherryce and her husband Tyler Pinon, and Chrystal and her husband Tyler Detring.  She also enjoys spoiling her two grandsons, Liam and Maverick Detring.
